The new experience
I was to undergo, take part in, witness or attend an activity that is a whole new experience for me. I had to decide quickly as it was less about what I do and more about my reaction to that experience. Luckily, at the time, My band had booked studio time to record our songs. I had never been in a recording studio before, so I knew that this would be perfect.
What we had to do
We then had to create a 90 second film in any method of our choosing. High tech/low tech, stop motion,
video/documentary, spoken word/sound, drawing/photographic/typographic, etc.
For mine, I decided to do something I have never done before. Combine video and imagery in documentary format. I knew that I couldn't just go straight into it without knowing what to film or how to film it. Inspiration was needed. Luckily for me, I had a few documentaries on my shelf which were focused on the topic at hand.

Chosen Documentaries for Inspiration
Sound City
'Sound City' is a 2013 documentary film by Dave Grohl, at his directorial debut, about the history of Los Angeles recording studio, 'Sound City Studios'.
Dave Grohl recorded the album 'Nevermind' with the band Nirvana at Sound City Studios. Grohl was inspired to create the documentary after he purchased several items from the studio including the Neve 8028 analog mixing console, when the studio closed in 2011.
Sound City Studios was located in the San Fernando Valley, amidst rows of dilapidated warehouses. The little-known recording studio housed a unique recording console and a reputation for recording drums. Artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty, Kyuss, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and Nirvana recorded ground-breaking music at the studio. The film tells the story of the studio from its early days until its closing in 2011. It then follows Dave Grohl's purchase of the studio's custom analog console, which he moved to his personal studio, Studio 606. Famous musicians who recorded at Sound City reunite at Studio 606 to make an album of "all-new all-original songs, each one composed exclusively for the film within its own 24-hour session on that console."

Foo Fighters: Back and Forth
'Foo Fighters: Back and Forth' is a 2011 rockumentary released by Foo Fighters, directed by filmmaker James Moll. The film documents the band's history, and gets its title from a track on the Foo Fighters' seventh studio album Wasting Light. The film includes material taken from over 1,000 hours of historical and new footage, and interviews with the current members of Foo Fighters, former band members William Goldsmith and Franz Stahl, and producer Butch Vig. Frontman Dave Grohl has said the main inspiration for the film was the decision to record Wasting Light in the garage of his mansion in Encino, California – "Personally, I thought it would be a good idea to now tell the story of the last 16 years, so it would make more sense to watch us make a record in a garage. After selling out fucking stadiums and becoming this big rock band, why would you make a garage record? To me the first hour and 20 minutes of the movie is leading up to that moment." He also added that while the band "always believed a little mystery is important to rock’n’roll", he considered it was time to tell their story, and referencing theTom Petty documentary Runnin' Down a Dream, "If we wait any longer, we’re going to wind up with a four-hour-long documentary".
Back and Forth saw its debut on March 15, 2011 at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. The first session was followed by a surprise Foo Fighters live performance, which included the entirety of Wasting Light in its setlist.

Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster
'Some Kind of Monster' is a 2004 documentary film featuring the American heavy metal band Metallica. It shares its name with the song "Some Kind of Monster" from Metallica's 2003 album St. Anger. The film shows many studio rehearsals and fragments of concert footage.
Directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky filmed a 1994 documentary called Paradise Lost on the West Memphis Three, about three teenagers convicted of murder. Metallica allowed their music to be used in the movie, which was the first time Metallica let any film use their music and the band drew attention to the cases. Following success, the directors eventually were interested in a no-holds-barred look at Metallica, which the band later agreed to and became Some Kind of Monster.

Queen: Days of Our Lives
The amazing documentary of the legendary British Rock Band. All the way from its inception, leading up to the tragic passing of a true legend in 1991. Freddie Mercury.
The main part of the film was the focus of the recording sessions the band went through to make their records possible. what new techniques they used, what they didn't expect to happen, etc.
This documentary also features the time and energy each member of the band spent on getting their sound so unique and how the processes came about on how to capture that essence.
