Final DECISION for our Project
We have come to the conclusion that our publication for this project will be focused on the overlooked aspects of 'Spike Island'. Namely, the staff and other members. Such as: Cafe Staff, Cleaners, Trustees, Volunteers, Caretaker, Cleaning Coordinators, etc. The people that nobody seems to notice that they were there, deserve their own recognition.
How our studio has communicated with each other.
We were smart enough to create a private page on Facebook for our designated studio. This is how we have been communicating with each other as well as swapping emails to each other regarding the employees and other members at 'Spike Island'. All the relevant information we need for our final publication.

Publication rationale
The first few spreads of our Publication. (Still in the making)
Recorded Interview - Gemma Wright
'I'm the operations coordinator so I deal with all the building based aspects such as health and safety, but I also line manage the front of house and the cleaner. And I do all the studio admin for the art foundation as well.'
'I did my degree in fine art, graduated in 2005. I then worked for a print studio for four years. I moved down to Bristol to start my MA in printmaking and I've worked here alongside doing that, which I finished in June.'
'So i've worked here since December 2009, I worked here four days a week and did my MA one day a week, it was quite intense.'
'There's lots of funny moments that are building based, really really bad leaks that come through the ceiling and we've had to grab loads of buckets. Anything bad always happens at 5 o'clock on a Friday when you want to go home or go out for the weekend. But then memorable things like, I did some of the print auditioning for the Sean Edwards Maelfa show in 2010, so that was really good. So I basically did some prints of his images which were then exhibited in the galleries. That was quite a big thing. It was his work but I sort of printed them.'
'Favourite exhibition theres quite a few, so I really loved the Sean Edwards Maelfa show, Haroon Mirzas exhibition was amazing. It was really experiential, it was great. And I really loved Rebecca Beasleys show thats on at the moment. I look at her work for my own practice so to have someones work in the gallery that I look at in books is awesome.'
'I'm a print maker so I would exhibited silk screen thats the base of the majority of my work, or a large scale animation in gallery one.'
'Just to add I definitely believe Michael Kelly is the 'unsung' hero. It's not all about posting mail and answering the phone. He's the face of Spike Island.'

Recorded Interview - Amy and Josh (Volunteers)
Amy: 'I've been here for a year next month, so around eleven months.'
Josh: 'Around three quarters of a year.'
Amy: 'We started off as volunteers and worked our way up the ranks basically.'
'People touching the art work gets me really annoyed, it doesn't happen too often, but you do get it. People just don't think, they just think "Oh I'll have a little feel of that."
Josh: 'We had Charlie from Casualty in here the other day.'
Amy: 'Really ? Oh my god.'
Josh: 'Yeah he was in a room just down the corridor.'
Amy: 'What since working here? I really liked the disrupted by the sound of the animations in gallery one* which was in September, that was really good, because it was so different to everything else. They got people to come in and play loads of different sports and I joined in with it, so it was quite enjoyable.'
Amy: 'I was a painter so maybe exhibit a live painting, that is quite graffiti like. Maybe something like throwing paint at the public, that would be fun.'
Josh: 'Probably some insulation stuff, sculpture kind of thing.'
