The Task
For this part of the summer brief, I was look at the type of work that I admire and begin researching the individuals who make it. Personally, I am particularly fond of 5 different styles of design.
From these 5 interesting topics I selected the artists I most admire and am thoroughly inspired by:
- Album Artwork
- Collage & Photo-montage Imagery
- Poster Design
- Type
- Title Sequence Design

#1 Storm Thorgerson
Storm Thorgerson is the main reason why I am studying Graphic Design. For as log as I can remember, he has been part of my work inspiration. I first came across the name when my parents made me listen to Pink Floyd's 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. I was overwhelmed by the design of the cover and even from such an early age. When I was 10 years old I made a list of all of the records that Thorgerson had design the album art work for. This list is endless by the way. I sat down and played every last one.
It wasn't long before I started recognising his work for bands that I already had heard of and liked.
Here are a few examples of his work and are also my favourite albums to this day:

#10 Eric S. Anderson
I first became fascinated with Anderson's work back in 2006 with his award winning title sequence for TV show 'DEXTER'. I found it interesting how he was able to capture the world of a serial killer and release it to the world by simply using the main character's morning routine. From which, our imagination are creating something else. The slicing of thin bacon, The tightening of shoe laces and the covering of the facial area when putting a shirt on. The list is endless but these are the 3 aspects which I depict as DEXTER'S calling card. The Knife cutting the skin as the weapon of choice, Strangling of the victims to render them unconscious and the asphyxiation with cling film. Eric S. Anderson mastered the creative technique to make this character real as well as visual to the audience.
