Design idea for the 3D design
Now that the typeface has been completed, it is now time to start designing my 3D piece in which I need to create a four letter word in a 3D format while working to the required measurement specifications.
Here is my design idea as well as the chosen four letter word:

material and style
Now that I have my four letter word, I need to use a material that I can easily make the letter forms out of as well as being stable enough to support the appearance of Decay. I have decided to use a special foam which is mainly used to support the position of artificial flowers. The good thing about this particular material is that it can be cut into any form with ease. To achieve the appearance of Decay in the letter forms, I am going to pick of pieces off of them once they are cut. To show the progression of Decay, I wanted to have more and more taken off from each letter form.

Planning Before anything else
Before I start cutting away all of the unnecessary bits, I'll need to plan out what style I am going to approach. Planning will need to be done in my sketchbook, just so I have a record of where I am. I also need to mention in the planning what texture I am to include as well as keeping images of the specific letter forms of the chosen four letter word so that they can act as a guide.
The finished Design
Here is a picture of the final 3D design.
The only downfall with the design is that the 'P' letter form will not stay up. I have had the idea of subtly putting wire through the letter forms, or connecting two letter forms together. For example, Connecting the 'O' and the 'P' so that the 'O' will act as the support needed for the 'P' to stay up right instead of on a tilt.
